Carey David-Father, Man of Faith, Entrepreneur, Writer, Musician, Nurturer
Carey is an expert in the field of marketing and branding but his true passion is writing. He is in the process of writing a book and has been published on The Good Men Project website. He holds a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Maryland and has been active in the orchestra at First Baptist Church of Ocala for 25 years. Carey is also the current President of Toastmasters Toasting Ocala Club as well as volunteering at the first Gavel Club in Marion County and facilitates Gavel College. He believes that each of us can make a difference and we all have a story to tell. Don’t tell me what you Think. Tell me what you Feel.
I remember it like it was yesterday. December 17th 2010. I was working for a small family business in town when the owner announced that he would be closing the shop for good on Christmas Eve just one week away. I went home to share with my wife the news. Ho, ho, ho! I wasn’t worried about finding employment. As one good friend used to tell me, “You’ve got mad skills!” But my wife said something interesting. “You’ve fixed other peoples business before. Why wouldn’t you consider doing that for yourself?” And so the adventure began and has continued to this day with many twist and turns. But this story is not about finding employment it is about finding my way.
I’ve put on paper my thoughts and composed music for many, many years. Really just for myself. Sometime after June of 2015 I began sharing some of my writings with a friend. When she read them she said, “Oh my Carey, this is beautiful. Why aren’t you writing a book…you should be published!” And so I was inspired to write again. To write more and to share more and similar responses from friends would follow. I never thought my words could have such an effect on people. I didn’t think I was anything special. It’s almost comical. Time and time again I see the gifts and talents that others have and encourage them to use them. To share them with others…and they do. Now the shoe was on the other foot, mine and I will be forever grateful for the encouragement of friends.
Speaking of friends I have recently been helping one friend set up her blog to share her life experiences and her passions because she has a story to tell and the words echo in my ears again from almost 6 years ago. “Why wouldn’t you consider doing this for yourself?” And so it begins…a blog of my own. To share and to encourage others if they have a talent or gift they should pick up that brush, click that camera, and sing their song for we all have a story to tell. I’ll tell mine and I hope you will do the same.
